Remote Hotel Formal Dinner (Template)

This is the OpOrder for a shindig we did on a Discord based book club chat.

I leave it here as a possible template for future activities.

Situation
Everyone is cooped up to some degree due to restrictions. Stress is high and opportunities for amusement are limited. People are separated from partners, lovers, toys, pets, and the community at large.

Mission
To have a good time, foster community, dress up, and share in an event style formal dinner environment. The focus is on costume and camaraderie, not the meal itself or the serving of it.

Execution

• Date / Time TBD. Could be rolling by time zone, or coordinated. Comments solicited. I will decide by Tuesday the 21st, with a tentative date of Friday the 24th starting at 8:00 PM Eastern.
• One seating for all people, with service by an (imagined) hotel staff.
• Hotel event, so street legal, but high dress. This is the time for your fancy leathers, latex, tuxedos, feather boas. Go for it, but street legal.
• You may be Serving, but you are not serving the meal. Have a seat and eat.
• Have whatever meal you want prepared so you can eat while typing. Protect your computer as much as you need.
• At that appointed time start posting costume pics in chat.
• Post identifiable or non-identifiable pics as you feel is appropriate.
• Chat and have a good time.

Administration / Logistics

• Each location or person is responsible for their own food/beverage if any.
  If you are really committed you can have a mediocre menu of beef, chicken, or vegetarian with adequate sides.
• You do not have to show your face (repeated in case I wasn’t clear enough).
• We do want to see a current picture, since the idea is to get dressed up for health reasons. It isn’t required, but you will get more out of it.
• Feel free to coordinate costumes across locations, within your household or with random strangers.
• Feel free to coordinate with no one at all and be flamboyant.

Command and Signal

• Obey Rule #1: Don’t be a dick.
• The objective is camaraderie.
• No one is in charge per se, but don’t violate any of the channel rules.
• Pictures and chat go in dinner-chatpics.
• Voice channel dinner-time will be open. Anarchy will be tested. We may add a moderator if it gets overwhelming.
