Training Progression in the Regiment

There are no set times for the various phases. The curriculum is customized to the student and where we all are at the moment. It seems terribly rigid, but these are primarily guidelines.

Prospect: Someone who has expressed interest and is not yet sworn to the Prince. This period includes some reading of The Prince’s writings and general chat about the process.

Preparation Course: This starts with enlistment. The oath at this point is just to be diligent, timely, and honest in the coursework. Title of Recruit. Enlistment does include a token, generally an anklet to allow premanent wear in a professional setting. This is considered a Training Collardespite not being a physical collar. Play collars that are more traditional may also be used. Fet status update to under consideration / considering. In return honesty, transparency, and assistance are offered. There is no requirement of service at this point. It is still quite exploratory. The candidate will be expected to acquire the required reference material, by purchase, loan, or checkout as feasible. The intent of this phase is to provide the candidate enough information about Us and the way we do things to make an informed decision whether they wish to continue.

Assessment and Selection: This starts with another oath, but it is still a candidate position and the tokens don’t change. This oath will carry until the end of training. It includes diligence, obedience, and service. Title of candidate. Fet status change to Training / in training. In return I offer guidance, support, and encouragement. This is still focused primarily on the candidate. There is a lot of reading, writing, and assessment aimed at helping the candidate discover and define their beliefs, talents, and goals. The scope is life itself, not just this relationship. The intent of this phase is to introduce the candidate to the practices and members of the team to determine capacity and capability, while having them explore themselves as well.

Qualification Course: Even more reading and writing with the focus split between developing skills to meet the goals discovered in AS and those The Prince wants and tasks contributing directly to the team’s mission. Title remains Candidate. This is when the candidate starts to get more of a sense of Team life and focuses out from the introspection of AS. Graduation includes fealty appropriate to the unit to which the Team member is going. At this point an ownership collar is presented. Fet status update based on status. General Title is Team Member, but slave may also be appropriate. We may even go with the older “sworn person”.

A candidate may withdraw at any time by “ringing the bell”. They may be dismissed at any time for performance or compatibility issues. The metaphorical bell is just a reference to the physical bell in SEAL selection Hell week.
